Game Catering Near You, Delivered

Game catering near you is a delivery service that brings prepared wild game, from pheasant and partridge to venison and rabbit, to your door within a 30 mile radius of our kitchen in the South Downs. The Game Larder is a new, unaffiliated project: it prepares and delivers game dishes that you finish in your own oven, so the food travels at peak flavour and reaches your table still cold and ready to heat. The service runs 4 days a week, covers 12 named coverage areas, and holds a standing order for any party of 10 or more.

Coverage areas and delivery windows

Delivery areas are drawn around the 12 postcodes the kitchen can reach on a 30 mile radius, split into a 20 mile core zone and an outer band. The core zone, which includes Chichester, Midhurst and Petworth, receives same-day delivery on a 2 hour window between 12 noon and 2 pm. The outer band, which includes Petersfield, Arundel, Horsham, Bognor Regis, Selsey and East Grinstead, receives next-day delivery on a 4 hour window. Orders placed before 10 am on a running day go out the same day, and orders placed after 10 am ship the next morning.

If your postcode is not listed, the 45 mile extended band is bookable on a 6 hour slot, and the same 10 person minimum applies across all 3 zones. The service runs 4 days a week, and a 1 day advance notice is the only other rule for the core and outer zones.

Choosing the right provider for your order

Choosing a game catering provider near you comes down to 4 checks that separate a specialist from a generic deli. Run them in this order and the shortlist falls away fast.

  • Species on the board: a genuine provider lists at least 5 species such as pheasant, partridge, grouse, venison and rabbit, not a single "game" label.
  • Cut and preparation: the menu names the cut and the method, for example a rack of venison roasted with a pan sauce, not "game roast".
  • Oven-ready step: the dish is cooked to a safe core, cooled, and handed to you to finish in 20 to 25 minutes, so you control the last heat.
  • Delivery proof: a tracked vehicle and a stated window, not a "sometime today" promise.

The service meets all 4 checks, and the 12 named areas are the only ones the kitchen will commit to a window on.

Catering built on wild game

Catering built on wild game means every dish starts from a species hunted on the British season, which runs from 1 August to 31 January for most game. The kitchen works from that season and holds 2 standing suppliers: one for the bird species and one for the red game such as venison and roebuck. Because the species change with the month, the menu changes with it, and a January order and a March order are different menus even at the same price point.

The bird board in a typical November week carries pheasant, partridge and grey partridge, and the red game board carries venison, roebuck and hare. A 5 species week is the minimum the kitchen will deliver, and a 3 species week happens only when the season turns. The 2 suppliers keep the 5 species in stock without a single one being farmed for the plate.

Game Catering Menus and Oven-Ready Dishes

Game Catering Menus and Oven-Ready Dishes are priced per portion, and the 4 menu tiers are built to feed a defined headcount. The tiers below are the full menu, and each tier is priced per 1 portion for a party of 10 to 100.

Menu tierPortionsCore dishPrice per portion
Snack board10 to 20Roast partridge with a pan sauce4 pounds
Lunch menu10 to 40Pheasant roast with 2 sides6 pounds
Evening menu10 to 60Venison rack with a red wine sauce9 pounds
Feast menu20 to 100Whole pheasant, 3 sides and dessert12 pounds

Every dish leaves the kitchen at a 63 C core, cooled to 5 C within 1 hour, and packaged with a 20 to 25 minute oven finish card. The 4 tiers all share that same oven-ready step, and the only thing that changes between them is the headcount and the side dishes.

Wild Game Catering for Weddings

Wild Game Catering for Weddings is a 3 tier booking that covers the whole day from the breakfast table to the last canapé. A wedding booking holds a 6 hour kitchen slot, a 2 vehicle delivery, and a 12 month lead time that the calendar opens 30 September each year. The 3 tiers are a 40 guest minimum, a 80 guest mid tier, and a 150 guest full day, and each tier adds a defined number of dishes rather than a different price per head.

  • 40 guest tier: a 5 dish menu with a 2 vehicle delivery and a 1 hour tasting.
  • 80 guest tier: an 8 dish menu with a 2 vehicle delivery, a 2 hour tasting and a 1 day on site presence.
  • 150 guest tier: a 12 dish menu with a 3 vehicle delivery, a 2 day tasting and a 2 day on site presence.

The 12 month lead time is the only hard rule, and the 30 September opening date means a June 2027 wedding books in September 2026. The 2 vehicles keep the 4 hour wedding window, and the on site presence is a named chef, not a rotating one.

Catering Equipment: Hire, Buy and Rent Explained

Catering Equipment: Hire, Buy and Rent Explained splits into 3 options that fit different party sizes and different venues. Hire is for a single event of 10 to 40 people, buy is for a venue that hosts events 12 times a year, and rent is for a business that runs events 40 times a year. The 3 options share the same equipment list and differ only in the length of the commitment.

OptionBest forTypical kitCost per event
Hire1 event, 10 to 40 people2 chafing dishes, 1 oven cart, 60 portions of ware90 pounds
BuyA venue, 12 events a year6 chafing dishes, 2 oven carts, 300 portions of ware1,200 pounds one off
RentA business, 40 events a year10 chafing dishes, 4 oven carts, 500 portions of ware40 pounds per event

The hire kit is delivered into the 12 named areas on the same 2 hour core window, and the 1 event hire covers a lunch of 10 to 40 with no overnight storage. The 3 options exist because a 90 pound hire and a 40 pound per event rent are the same kit, and the difference is the number of events you are committing to in a year.

The 4 planned anchors above, from the coverage map to the equipment table, are the whole of the service: a 12 area kitchen, a 4 day week, and a 10 person minimum, with the 2 supplier model keeping the 5 species honest on the board.
